SKW hosts first national indoor archery championship
The SKW Archery Club pulled off its first-ever national indoor championship in Windhoek on Saturday (17 November).
A total of 33 archers from all over the country entered to showcase their talent at the games, president of Archery Association of Namibia, Heidi Redding said.
“The day was all about the archers. It is one of the most successful championships we ever hosted. This was the first on its kind since it was indoor and archers, organisers, and sponsors are looking forward to the next championship,” she said.
She added that discipline was the order of the day and all the archers that took part had something to show as far as shooting was concerned.
In the boys' under-13 compound class, Franco van Zyl won the gold medal, while CJ Button took home a silver medal and Marcel Imhof scooped the bronze medallion.
Compound cadet men class was won by Duan Engelbrecht,(gold); Danie Delport (silver), while girl’s under-13 compound class was won by Mia Karsten (gold).
Compound junior men class was won by JP Viljoen, (gold); while compound men maters class was won by Dirk De Bod (gold); Moritz Hoff (silver).
Compound women class winner was ILana Malan (gold); Liezl Schoeman (silver) and Bianca Karsten (bronze).
Recurve bar-bow men class winner was Frank Redding (Gold) while recurve women call winner is Nelleke Louw (gold)
Recurve cadet women class winner was Quinn Redding (gold) while in the men’s class Adriaan Glober won gold; Christiaan Brant (silver) and Kristiaan van Breda (bronze).
James Boshoff won the boy’s under13- bare-bow class.
Windhoek Field Archery Club will host the Khomas region year-end shoot next weekend in Windhoek.
