Six people burn to death in Otavi-Otjiwarongo horror crash

 

Six unidentified people were burnt to death in a horror accident that took place between the Otavi/Otjiwarongo roads this afternoon, law enforcement authorities have confirmed.

 

The accident which occurred 100 km from Otjiwarongo into Otavi involved three vehicles and it resulted into ten victims being rushed to the nearest hospital by an emergency response team.

 

Police spokesperson and chief inspector Kauna Shikwambi confirmed the incident but could not get into the numbers of victims saying officers were already assessing the situation by the time The Villager called.

 

Also speaking to this publication, neighborhood watch Sheriff Sean Naude said, “What happened is that a Zambian truck was coming from the front, he lost control and hit the minibus and a bakkie also hit the minibus.”

 

“Six people burnt to death in the car and they are sending ambulances right now, MR24 because they didn’t have enough ambulances but ten patients have already been transported this afternoon. So it’s a tragic accident.”

It is presently not clear what caused it while it can not be established whether the deceased are Namibians or not, Naude added.

“Their next of kin have probably not yet been notified,” he added.
