Spinners’ showdown coming in December
The Windhoek Spin City will be hosting the battle of all battles in which local spin showmanship will be the centre of attention on 1 December at the WSC spinning pit.
The games which have been dubbed “Battle of Spinners” are aimed at letting spinners show off what they learned throughout the year to determine the best spinner to date, a founding member of WSC, Joel Nambahu told The Villager Sport.
“This battle will be all about the spinners and every spinner that feels that he can bring their game is welcome to enter the competition. We have had many competitions throughout the year and it is quite obvious that spinners have learned a thing or two from these competitions and we would like them to showcase it in the pit,” he said.
He added that the competition is only open to Namibian spinners, both women and men.
The event’s sponsor, Standard Bank Namibia, will also be giving away a spin car at the event.
“We have realised that most of our fans are young and cannot afford to build spin vehicles. Now Standard Bank came on board and the youth can now stand a chance to win a spin vehicle. It is very expensive to build these kinds of vehicles, which is why we are giving away one to a lucky winner on the day. We will also be contributing towards Shack Dwellers Federation’s ‘Buy a Brick’ initiative in order to plough back into the community,” he said.
As part of the entertainment, WSC has also invited three of the top South African spinners to entertain the crowds.
The first prize winner is will be walking away with a cash prize of N$7 000, the second winner will receive N$5 000 and the third winner will walk away with N$2 000.
“It has been a long and busy year for spinners. We are looking forward to ending the year in a style, which will never be forgettable. I would like to urge everyone to come in number to support their favorite spinners,” Nambahu said.
