No bail for man who raped his niece

A 20-year-old man who stands accused of kidnapping and raping his niece on Tuesday, appeared in the Outjo Magistrates Court today where he was denied bail.

The suspect, Gotfried Naibab, allegedly lured the victim and two other children to a shop where he was going to buy them sweets.

The family, however, grew concerned when the other children returned home without the suspect or the child, launched a search for them.

The child was discovered in the bushes near the municipality building, with Naibab nowhere in sight.

Naibab was found with blood near a family home in Soweto location at the town and was hauled for questioning leading to his arrest.

The child is in a stable condition and is receiving medical care.

Naibab's case was postponed to 19th of November for legal aid, mental observation and further investigations.

Public prosecutor Sean Nangombe represented the state and the case was presided over by magistrate Peingondjiabi Shihepo.
