Altogether, 12 players have been selected and are ready to take on world class players, president of NCF Israel Shilongo said.

“We have trained exceptionally well, and we look forward to locking horns with the best of the best in the world. We are a good team, and as the president of the federation, I have faith in every chess player in the country. We are a force to be reckoned with,” he said.

He added that all the players that are going are veterans and know their way around the chess board.

Shilongo also said that the team is eyeing medals to make the country proud.

“We are aiming at bringing home gold medal, and I am sure we will be able to do so. It is not a great challenge at all because we are a team that is determined to get medals at every Olympiad we take part in and we have proven that we are more than capable of bringing home many medals,” he said.

He added that the federation also aims at making history at the upcoming Olympiad to improve the country’s world rankings.
