The 15th edition of the Namibia Annual Sports Awards (NASA) will be hosted at Swakopmund, in The Dome for the first time on the 27th of October.

The awards will honor 17 categories including team sports, sportsmen and women, able and those with disabilities and the country’s youngest sports folks who have gone beyond to achieve great things for themselves and the country, Chairperson of the Namibia Sports Commission (NSC), Joel Matheus has said.

“This event would not have been possible if it was not for our line ministry and all the sponsors. This year’s event will bring approximately 700 members of the sports community and will be in Erongo region for the very first time outside Windhoek,” he said.

He added that the final list of categories will be the result of a formal panel workshop held by the NSC involving the newly appointed judges, the marketing sub-committee and the sports press.

Matheus also noted that the nominee packages will make use of each nominee’s video footage placed in an animated holding device that speaks to thematic and overall look and have three nominees profile per each category promoted on both television and audio for radio adverts.

“Under the guidance of the awards committee a spectacular set design is guaranteed. The stage layout itself will speak to the thematic of sports awards by the very fluid, lyrical curves that will be prevalent throughout,” he said.

He added that the closing date for entries into the awards is 16th September and no late entries will be allowed.
