Police inspector arrested for culpable homicide

A northern police inspector from the VIP Directorate was arrested on Saturday after he allegedly bumped a pedestrian near Uuhama location, 33 km from Omuthiya.

 A homicide case was registered with the Okatope police, as the 55 year-old suspect was driving without a license.

According to police documents the deceased tried to cross the road when the suspect hit him with his Toyota Auris. The police has identified the man however his next of kin have not been informed.

Police investigations will continue.

In a case of reckless driving, the police is looking for an unidentified suspect who was involved in a hit and run in Keetmanshoop on Saturday.

According to the police, the suspect who was driving a black Audi A4 ran over a 10 year old boy before speeding off in Sonop location.

The minor sustained serious injuries but is currently stable in hospital.

The police said that the search for the vehicle has intensified.
