Verdict in - phosphate mining environment clearance certificate set aside

Environment minister Pohamba Shifeta has with immediate effect set aside the granting of an environment clearance certificate to Namibia Marine Phosphate. 

The order binds all parties, directly and indirectly affected and the Commissioner is to notify the fisheries ministry, fishing industry and interested parties to finalise their inputs and submit them within three months. 

Shifeta has also instructed that the whole process of consultation should be completed within six months from the day of his judgement.
