MTC Sunshine aims for world title glory before end of year
The world’s leading Promoter and current MTC Promoter/Coach of the Year, Nestor Tobias says his academy is aiming to crown at least one world champion before the end of 2018.
Tobias made the revelations in a recent press release in which he spelled out the ambitions of the MTC Nestor Sunshine Promotions for the remainder of the year.
“We are delighted that we have managed to attain world rating status for 5 of our boxers namely Paulus “Hitman” Moses, Walter “Executioner” Kautondokwa, Jeremiah “Low Key” Nakathila”, Sakaria “Desert Storm” Lukas and Mike Shonena.”
“All these guys have excellent world ratings. The Hitman just had a very close nail biting world title fight against Beltran which he clearly won in my and many people’s view and our priority is to push for a rematch vs Beltran in the near future.”
That is definitely a rematch that boxing fans across the world will appreciate, and Tobias hopes to make the fight happen.
“Kautondokwa has a superb rating of number 3 in a very tough and competitive Middleweight division. We are aware that the current champion Billy Joe Saunders will forever avoid him and the strategy is therefore to push for a mandatory challenger status which will force the champion to face the hard hitting Kautondokwa whether he likes it or not.”
“With one or two more wins, we hope to cement him as mandatory challenger. Nakathila is rated number 5 right now and with the possibility of the current champion Vasyl Lomanchenko vacating the title to move to Lightweight where he has also become a world champion now, we expect the current number 1 and 2 to fight for the vacant title and our plan is therefore to push for an interim world title or mandatory status so that he gets a shot to the world title in his next fight,” said Tobias.
Lukas is currently ranked number 2, and in this division the Sunshine stable has the current champion Oscar Valdez out with a jaw injury and has an Interim world champion and former world champion, Carl Frampton in line.
Said Tobias, “Since Frampton has so many options, we anticipate that he will fight the other champions in the division which leaves us with the opportunity to challenge for the Interim title. Shonena, despite making his world rating debut only 3 months ago, he has already improved his rating to number 14 which is impressive and we will of course continue to build him with wins against worthy opponents.”
Tobias explained that it goes without saying that while these plans are being put in place, these boxers will continue to keep busy because winning allows them to maintain their world ratings.
Nestor reiterated that the future of MTC Sunshine remains bright and they are positive that they can crown another legitimate world champion before the end of 2018.
