He has so far worked with Exit on his CumLaude album where he featured on one of his tracks named ‘I just died in your arms tonight’.

The Villager set with the talented musician to get a depth of who he is.

Full name: Panduleni Steven Biko Shihepo

Stage name: Yorhinuz Biko

Sex: Male

Occupation: Comedian and Rapper

Vibe: When did you start doing music?

YB: I started rapping in grade 4 and recorded my first song in 2015 but it was not released. I then featured Exit on ‘I just died in your arms.

Vibe: Where exactly did your inspiration for music come from?

YB: I really don’t know because I follow my heart but I also come from a family with a music background.

Vibe: Where are you from?

YB: I was born in Oranjemund but moved to Luderitz at six months old, that is where I learnt how to walk and talk, so I represent Luderitz. My family is from there and then I moved to Windhoek in grade 4 and I have been here ever since.

Vibe: Besides music what else do you do?

YB: I do stand-up comedy, I write scripts and I am currently working on a book that will be released around the 22nd or 23rd March, which is basically just about life in general. I first came into the industry as a comedian, I did comedy shows before I recorded my first song. I did last comic standing in 2014 and I was a runner up.

Vibe: Let’s talk about the upcoming album, who have you worked with and when exactly is it set for release?

YB: The album will be titled Afi-J and I am planning on working with artists such as Tequila, Neslow, Salvador and Top Cheri but the rest I can’t reveal yet because it still needs to be confirmed.

The album will probably be out by July or August and it is going to have 12 tracks.

Vibe: What are some of the challenges you experience as an upcoming artist?

YB: People hardly support you if you are new, secondly, not everyone supports local music. But at the end of the day it’s just about working hard I guess. I know a lot of artists who have been in the game before me and have not pushed enough.

Vibe: How many singles have you released so far?

YB: I am busy recording my album now and I am going to release it in July or June but so far, I have one single titled ‘Who is the man’ and I will be dropping two more.

The songs that I will be dropping are ‘I have a dream’ and Lokshin.

You know as an upcoming musician, you can drop as many songs but they will really not be viable until you have blown up.

Vibe: Who produced the song that you dropped today?

YB: DJ Chronic and the video was shot by David Grand.

Vibe: Are you currently signed under any record label?

YB: Yes, I am, I am signed under Royalty Records since last year July.
