Harders Cup 2018 officially launched in Luderitz
The most anticipated social and entertainment event in the Karas region was successfully been launched in Luderitz last Friday.
Officially launching the cup, chief organizer and founder, Tim Ekandjo, explained that the 2018 event will see a total of 10 teams competing as opposed to last year’s six.
“I am pleased to announce that the 2018 edition of the Harders Cup will see two teams from Keetmanshoop and one team from Rosh Pinah join the seven teams in Luderitz to make this a truly spectacular and mouth-watering soccer tournament,” said Ekandjo.
Real Fighters and Orange Rangers from Keetmanshoop and Mountain Rangers from Rosh Pinah will join Atlanta Bucs, Atlantic Stars, Diamond City, Rush Ups, Man United, Pescanova and the 2017 winner Youngsters from Luderitz to battle it out for the grand prize of N$100 000.
The runner ups will receive a cool N$50,000 while the 3rd place will walk away with N$20 000 and the Top Goal Scorer N$10 000.
“I am also pleased to inform you that the 2018 Harders Cup Music Bash will see an increased line up of artists with Namibia’s NAMA winners Adora, TBoss & Staika and Gazza being featured on the line up alongside Tulisan and Distruction Boyz from South Africa for a truly spectacular musical treat,” he said.
The 2018 Harders Cup will be delivered at a total budget of N$1 238 500 and so far an amount of N$N$660 000 has been secured.

Officiating at the packed launch at the Luderitz Benguella Community Hall, Her Worship, The Mayor of Luderitz, Hilaria Mukapuli, welcomed the return of the 2nd edition of the Cup.
“I was very impressed with the manner in which this initiative was introduced to Luderitz, well planned and executed and already an overwhelming success in its first year. I have no doubt that the 2018 event will be even better. I am happy to note that the significant growth in the events vision by now becoming a truly regional event which is an aggressive strategy which mirrors the Chief Organizer, Tim Ekandjo,” he said.
He added, “As Buchters and people from the Karas region, we must support this event financially as it’s being delivered to all of us free of charge, and all we need to do is show up.”

Events like these are of a vital importance for the promotion of economic growth, job creation and the mitigation of poverty” concluded the mayor.
The highlight of the event was the live draw based on a knockout basis.
The tournament will kick off on Saturday morning, 31st of March when defending champions Youngsters will face Atlanta Bucs.
The two teams share a historic rivalry and will make for a mouth watering opening.
The cup concludes on the 1st of April 2018 in Luderitz.
