Jayden to release first solo album

Jayden, real name Jerome Shilongo, will finally release his 12 track debut album, titled ‘Doing me’ in March this year.

The versatile artist told Vibe that he has been working on his first album since last year.

Jayden, who split from his music partner, Obie, a few years ago also told Vibe that he had been working on songs for his second album at the same time.

“I have been going to the studio throughout just to make sure that all the songs are ready for the official launch and the date is almost here,” he explained.

According to Jayden, the album was supposed to be out before the due date of the Namibian Annual Music Awards (NAMAs) entries but was postponed due to challenges.

“We were supposed to release the album last year already but we all decided not to rush for the (NAMAs), I don’t want to make music for the awards only but to do what I love without rushing,” he said.

The Otjiwarongo based artist has featured other artists such as Dj Castro, Klive, Tswazis and others.

Although his album will only be released in March after it was set for release last year, Jayden believes that his CD is worth the wait and music lovers should expect the best sound from ‘Doing me’.

With Otjiwarongo having a handful of music producers, he has worked with Kallo on the beat, Gio beats and Windhoek based producer Preezy.

“It is very difficult for us to make music as we only have few producers and that is why you would see few artists from small towns travelling to Windhoek to go finish their albums,” he said.

Apart from the lack of producers Jayden said getting the necessary exposure has been his major challenge saying that the focus is only in the city.

“I will also be releasing videos from my album not because I want to show off but because I love what I do and I just want to deliver the best art,” he said.

With the album almost out Jayden said he hopes to sell out all his copies while aiming to go platinum.
