The Namibian police is looking into the case of a VIPP Directorate police officer who shot and killed himself in Windhoek on Saturday.
The man who has been identified as Jonas Erastus Nakatati (34), shot himself around 16h45 on Saturday.
Nampol said the incident happened near Brakwater’s plot 45 Nubnanis Hill.
The deceased took a service pistol to the head, after he had overturned a government vehicle he had been driving.
The vehicle is a Toyota Hilux double cab, registered GRN 4896.
Nampol is also looking into the case of a 26 year old Portuguese tourist who was killed 5km from the Hosea Kutako International Airport on Friday.
Natacha Ferreira Alves died instantly after she was bumped by a vehicle while crossing the road.
Nampol said the deceased had just arrived in Namibia with her boyfriend and father, when along the airport road, they spotted a tortoise crossing the road.
They stopped to take a look.
Upon returning to their vehicle, Ferreira Alves was knocked down by a passing vehicle and died on the spot.
Her next of kin have been informed and investigations continue.
